3 Types of Cosmetic Braces

braces

When it comes to cosmetic braces there are different options which can be split into a three different groups.

  1. Clear aligners – These include Invisalign and other clear aligners. They consist of clear gum shields which are very discreet. Once in, they are worn for about two weeks and gradually the teeth are moved over a period of time. It can be quite a lengthy process depending on what is being corrected and in some cases can be up to two years or so.
  2. Fixed braces – The Six Month Smiles System is a brace system that fits into this category. It consists of clear brackets with tooth coloured wire which is on the teeth. The brackets are very discreet. With this system the teeth can be moved very quickly and results can be achieved within 6 months depending on what we are aiming for. As there are brackets involved, then there can be a little bit of discomfort for the first few weeks, although most people get used to this and they can be very comfortable.
  3. The Inman Aligner – The Inman Aligner is a removable brace which can be removed and usually is worn for up to 16 hours per day. This can usually be used to correct the front 4 teeth. Not everyone is suitable for this, although with a consultation we would be able to determine if you were. One of the main benefits of having this is that as it is removable, it can be taken out for special occasions like social events and no one will know.
