Dealing With challenges and difficult times

I just wanted today to share a video I did a few days back which helped me get through difficult times. I hope this helps if you are going through a difficult time or challenge at present

I hope you are well under the circumstances and adjusting well to the current situation. If you have family members that you want to keep in touch with here are a few useful apps that can help

Facebook– allows calls and also video calls you will need to have an account

Google hangouts – you can call friends and family and also have voice calls and you can also do video conferencing so have more that one person on a call. I use this with family

Whatsapp  You can make calls and also make video calls and also send video and voicemail as well.

there are a lot more but these are the ones I have been using hope that helps

If you are having trouble sleeping during a lockdown you are not alone. This can be due to the change in a routine here are a few tips I picked up to help me

1- Keep to a routine, when we work this gives a routine to our daily lives the 9-5 having to get up and ready for work then have lunch at a certain time etc. If you are not working or working from home then this routine can be disrupted and this can impact sleep. So if you can stick to getting up as you would normally and eat at the same time as you would normally this will help with sleep.

2- Plan a schedule of activity – every day I write down what I will be doing for the next day this usually consists of a bit of work, reading, exercise and of course a daily walk. Then at the end of the day, I then review my activity and see what I accomplished and what could have done better and then write a new list for the following day.

3- Keep TV and entertainment as a reward. It can be very easy to binge watch TV, or binge on social media or even binge on junk food and with all of these it can feel really good at the moment but it makes us feel lousy afterward. I made a commitment to keep these to 1 hour of TV a day and then only as a treat once I have completed the other tasks for the day. Also, be careful when you watch TV keeping screen time to a minimum in the evening can help sleep better.

4- If you do suffer from sleep apnoea (snoring to the point whereby it significantly impairs breathing whilst asleep) then there are several things that can help with this and an anti-snoring device is one option. If this is something you would like to know more about then give us a call on 01772 717316

I hope these help just a few tips,  remember If you are suffering with long term sleep issues then please speak to your doctor.

stay safe

I wanted to reach out today to offer some advice and help. As we enter the third week of lockdown, I hope you are coping well with the situation here are some areas which have helped me.

Maintaining Oral health- firstly please continue with your oral health regime as per usual in these times when the immune system can be effected we can be more prone to decline in oral health so please keep up with the brushing and using the regime that you do normally. If you are short on supplies, then most pharmacies are still open and stock most dental health products.

General Health and wellbeing- it can be difficult being indoors for prolonged periods if you are self-isolating then please be mindful of your diet it can be very easy to consume more and also food like refined sugar, like chocolates and sweets, these may stop that initial craving although can do more damage in the long term to your health. It can also be difficult from a mental health perspective one thing that has helped me is keeping up with some exercise and also some meditation 5-10 minutes a day there are many apps out there which can be used the one I use is Headspace.

We are still closed although I am available for advice and help even if you need to chat or need some help with something then give us a call on 01772 717316.

I have set up a video consultation on our website www.lifestyledental.co.uk for this as well.

If you are working during these times, as a key worker, then please stay safe and you have my utmost respect.

We will be over this soon and get back to some normality in the meantime please stay safe.
